Lights, Santa, Christmas! White Mountains Celebrate Holiday Season

WOODSTOCK, NH - Frosty air and holiday cheer are settling over New Hampshire’s White Mountains, where seasonal attractions are ready to welcome visitors with festive events and activities.

Santa Claus is not too busy to miss spending weekends at Santa’s Village in Jefferson. Through Dec. 18, the Jolly Old Elf welcomes good little boys and girls to this venerable attraction. What child doesn’t love a train ride through a winter wonderland? Start with the Mount Washington Cog Railway in Bretton Woods Nov. 25-27. Passengers join Santa and Mrs. Claus on a ride up New England’s tallest mountain. Dress warm and bring a camera. Check TheCog.com for schedule.

The Conway Scenic Railroad offers two excursions on holiday season weekends. Journey to the North Pole is a magical ride to the North Pole, while Santa’s Holiday Express features Santa and his mischievous elves share hot chocolate and cookies up until Dec. 23. Catch the Santa Express at the Hobo Railroad in Lincoln every weekend through Dec. 18. Enjoy hot chocolate, holiday cookies and for each child, a free gift from Santa, on a ride winding through the woods and along the Pemigewasset River. Check the schedule at HoboRR.com.

For an old fashioned Christmas wrapped in evergreen boughs, plan a visit to The Rocks Estate in Bethlehem. Bring the family to pick out the perfect tree to bring home, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, visit Father Christmas and make memories you’ll recall every year.
