Theater and Arts in the White Mountains

Along with our mountains, scenic vistas, and legendary attractions, the White Mountains also offers incredible theater, arts, and music performances. Our theaters have incredible history and have been creating award-winning professional and community productions for decades. Check out what’s on stage this summer here in the White Mountains!

starColonial Theatre-Bethlehem

The Colonial Theatre is an historic movie theater that was built in 1915, and is one of the oldest continuously running movie theaters in the United States. Today, The Colonial still offers a film series which showcases off-beat films that you might not see elsewhere. Showings this summer include Paris Can Wait, The Hero, and Beatriz at Dinner. Not only do they show movies, they also host a summer concert series with acts ranging from bluegrass, to pop, to samba. If you have kids, they also offer the Summer Children’s Series with performances including a pop rock fairytale, a magic show, a puppetry act with live music, and much more. starJean’s Playhouse-Lincoln

Originally the Papermill Theatre Company, Jean’s Playhouse has been producing mainstage professional theater and community shows since the 1980’s. The Playhouse has been awarded dozens of NH Theater Awards over the years for both their professional and community companies. This summer’s mainstage shows include, The Addams Family, Annie-The Musical, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Not only do they boast incredible theater year-round, they also produce a summer touring children’s theater series (IMPACT), which performs for children in Plymouth, Intervale, Lincoln, Lancaster, and Claremont. If you’re in the mood for some comedy, there are comedy nights throughout the year, and there are also movie nights scattered throughout their calendar. starNH Music Festival-Plymouth

The New Hampshire Music Festival has been delighting audiences with chamber and chorus music in the White Mountains for nearly 20 years. The Festival runs through August 6th with performances at venues in Plymouth and in Wolfeboro. Enjoy music by Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, and Debussy by musicians from around the world. starNorth Country Chamber Players-Franconia

For almost 40 years, the North Country Chamber Players has been bringing amazing musical performances to the White Mountains. This summer’s White Mountains Music Festival, runs through August 17 with performances at the Sugar Hill Inn, The Mountain View Grand, and the Littleton Opera House. starWeathervane Theater-Whitefield

Founded in 1966, the award-winning Weathervane Theater has been entertaining audiences for 52 seasons. This summer, the Weathervane will be showcasing 7 professional mainstage shows in repertory, including, Hairspray, Inherit the Wind, Seussical, Gypsy, and West Side Story. For the kids, the Patchwork Players will perform classic shows with a twist for audiences on stage at the Weathervane as well as on the road!
