This year’s annual Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race raised a record $62,000 with proceeds from the race devoted to supporting the oral health needs of North Country residents.

This year’s race was held on June 17, 2023 under difficult conditions with over 1,300 runners from around the globe taking part in the 62nd annual 7.6-mile hill climb on the legendary Mt. Washington Auto Road.

The road race has been sponsored annually by Northeast Delta Dental since 2001. During that time, their strong partnership with the Mt. Washington Auto Road, bolstered by the Auto Road’s ongoing commitment to local communities, has resulted in annual donations totaling over $300,000 to Coös County Family Health Services.

“The Auto Road and Northeast Delta Dental have been remarkable partners,” said Ken Gordon, chief executive officer of Coös County Family Health Services. “Their support has made it possible for us to offer dental services to hundreds of people who would have otherwise gone without.”

Coös County Family Health Services has provided families with affordable healthcare since 1974, and has grown to become one of the largest rural federally qualified health centers in northern New England. CCFHS has recently opened a new dental clinic in Colebrook to continue to serve the population.

“We’ll use the proceeds from the event to provide dental care for children and adults in the North Country,” said Amanda Hibbard, dental operations manager for Coos Health.

“We are proud to have supported the Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race for nearly two decades, attracting thousands of people of all ages to our beautiful state,” said Jennifer McGrath, Senior Manager, Corporate Giving Delta Dental. “Our partnership with the Mt. Washington Auto Road allows us to work together and continue efforts to improve the oral health of the citizens in the North Country.”

The race now includes an option for runners to commit to raising funding in exchange for a guaranteed entry to the race, which is typically organized by a lottery process. Charity bibs open for registration on January 10, 2024 for the upcoming race in June.
