Since 1966, Squam Lakes Natural Science Center has brought visitors Nearer to Nature! The outdoor live animal exhibit trail features native NH animals including coyote, bobcat, red fox, fisher, river otter, black bear, and more. New Raptor Exhibit features hawks, owls, and eagles. Squam Lake Cruises show the beauty and history of pristine Squam Lake. Kirkwood Gardens shows a variety of flowering plants and shrubs that naturally attract birds and butterflies. Natural science education programs enlighten students and adults alike. Plan to spend the day with a 2-3 hour self-guided tour of the live animal exhibit trail, a picnic lunch, followed by a 90 minute guided cruise on Squam Lake. The Science Center is the only institution in northern New England accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Open daily May 1 – November 1. Tickets available at nhnature.org.
