April Vacation is almost upon us and it couldn’t come fast enough! With the snow melting, and temps rising, it’s a great time to come to the White Mountains and explore what we have going on in early spring.
April Vacation Events
Concerts at the Flying Monkey Movie House & Performance Center-Plymouth-April 13, 14, 20
Enjoy a variety of music from top performers. On April 13, rock out to Jake Shimabukuro: The Jimi Hendrix of Ukulele, on April 14, The Artimus Pyle Band takes to the Flying Monkey stage with their tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and on April 21, Carbon Leaf celebrates 25 years of mixing folk, Americana, and Celtic sounds, with a stop at the Monkey as part of their U.S. and European tour.
Discovery Days at Remick Country Doctor Museum and Farm-Tamworth-April 16-20
Enjoy family time at this historic homestead in the village of Tamworth. Historical demonstrations, trivia, farm chores, and a tour of the museum and farm make for a fun afternoon to unplug and learn about local history.
Earth Day Open House at the AMC Highland Center-Crawford Notch-April 21
Celebrate Earth Day with the knowledgeable staff at the AMC Highland Center. There will be stations set up throughout the day to take part in recycled crafts, recycled robots, and to learn about the Earth’s geology and being green. Help clean up the trails surrounding the Center and view the sky from the on-site planetarium.
Believe in Books Character Breakfasts in the 100-Acre Wood-Intervale-April 14 & 21
Meet your favorite storybook characters and enjoy a tasty pancake breakfast with 100-Acre Wood Maple Syrup. Gather around the stage for a storybook reading followed by a meet and greet with the character of the day.
Discover WILD New Hampshire Day-Concord-April 21
This wild and fun event is hosted by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. See live animals, trained falcons, and retriever dogs in action. There will be more than 60 outdoor and conservation organizations from around the state with booths, displays, and games for the whole family.
Jean’s Teens Presents Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Jean’s Playhouse-Lincoln-April 13-15
The eccentric Willy Wonka opens the doors of his candy factory to five lucky kids who learn the secrets behind his amazing confections. Based on the Book by Roald Dahl and presented by Jean’s Teens and the Linwood Public School.
End of Season Events at Area Ski Resorts-April 14
Bring the family and watch costumed competitors skim across a man-made pond on skis to see if they can make it to the other side. These popular events are just as much fun for those watching as it is for those competing for prizes. Cannon Mountain is hosting their annual Blizzard Pond Splash, Loon Mountain is hosting their Slushpool Party, and Wildcat is hosting their Pond Skim. Plan on lots of laughing, cheering, and fun.
Settlers Green World Art Day Art Tour-North Conway-April 15
As a proud supporter of the arts, Settler’s Green encourages you to tour eight custom pieces of art on World Art Day. Pick up a free Settler’s Green Art Guide and special print of Rebecca Klementovich’s, “Can We Talk,” at Customer Service starting at 10 a.m., while supplies last.
Attractions and Activities Open in April
All aboard! The Conway Scenic begins riding the rails, weekends starting April 14. The Valley Train offers rides to Conway, which is an 11 mile ride, and to Bartlett, which is a 21 mile. Take in the scenery while enjoying an old-fashioned railroading experience.
The Cog Railway-Bretton Woods-Weekends starting April 21
Climb to the top of Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast aboard the world’s first mountain-climbing cog railway! Sit back and enjoy the scenery of this 3-hour round trip train ride. Visit the museum at the base as well as at the summit. A once-in-a-lifetime experience.
