Attractions Open in Late October

Do not fear…there is still much fun to be had in the White Mountains this fall! Beat the crowds, peep the last of the fall color, and enjoy a visit at one of the awesome attractions that are open for some late fall fun. Whether you are coming up for a weekend visit or a mid-week trip, book your tickets and make some memories.

***Reservations are either required or encouraged, so please check individual attraction websites on how to make reservations and for information on safety protocols.

ALPINE ADVENTURES – Alpine brings the thrills year-round so you can enjoy ziplining and their off-road safari in the foliage and in the snow! Current operating dates are Thursday-Monday 9am-4pm until November 11. Starting November 13, operating dates will be Friday-Monday 9am-4pm.

CONWAY SCENIC RAILROAD – Excursions through Crawford Notch, Conway, and Bartlett run daily through October, with the Pumpkin Patch Express running weekends. Additional weekend and holiday trains will run November and December.

THE FLUME GORGE – Explore the incredible gorge, Avalanche Falls, covered bridges, and more along this 2-mile loop trail through the woods and along the boardwalk. Discover the natural and historical significance of this part of Franconia Notch State Park. Open daily through October 25 from 8am-4pm.

HOBO RAILROAD – Relax as you ride the rails along the Pemigewasset River oboard the Hobo Railroad! Learn fun facts about the railroad and the region during your 90-minute ride. Open October 15,16,18,24,25 with excursions running at 11am & 1pm and October 17 at 11am, 1pm & 3pm.

LOON MOUNTAIN RESORT – Visit the summit and enjoy incredible views while taking a ride on Loon Mountain’s Gondola Skyride. Explore the observation tower and amphitheater at the top. Open Thursday-Sunday until October 18, 10am-5pm.

LOST RIVER GORGE & BOULDER CAVES – Glacial boulder caves, Paradise Falls, and amazing views from Kinsman Notch await, when you visit Lost River Gorge. Descend 300 feet into the gorge where your journey begins. Come and visit New Hampshire’s oldest natural attraction! Open Thursday-Monday through October 18, 9am-4pm (last ticket sold at 3pm).

MT. WASHINGTON AUTO ROAD – Make your own adventure at America’s oldest man-made attraction where you can choose to either drive your own vehicle up the 7.6-mile Auto Road, or opt to take one of their Stage Coach Vans and have someone else do the driving for you! Open daily through October 25: 8am-4pm, weather permitting. Reservations required for 2-hour guided tours, NO reservations required for "drive yourself" excursions.

MOUNT WASHINGTON COG RAILWAY –Ride the “Railway to the Moon” aboard the world’s first mountain climbing cog railway. Daily trips to the summit run until October 18. Excursions to Waumbek Station (elev. 3,900’), run Oct. 19-Nov. 29. (All trips are weather permitting). The Mount Washington Visitor Center is now closed for the season so limited summit services are available.

POLAR CAVES PARK – Are you ready to climb through nine glacial caves with such names as Fat Man’s Misery and the Lemon Squeeze? See how many you can navigate as you go up, down, and all around at Polar Caves. Enjoy views from the top of the boardwalk system and don’t forget to feed the deer and the ducks before you leave. Open weekends through October 18, 10am-2pm.

SANTA’S VILLAGE – Christmas meets Halloween during the last couple of weekends of the season at Santa’s Village. While Santa will be around to find out if you have been naughty or nice, there will also be sights and sounds of Halloween lurking about. Kids (and adults) are encouraged to wear costumes and candy will be handed out throughout the park. Open weekends through October 25, 9:30am-5pm. Ticket price includes their Merry Trick or Treat event.
