The holiday season is in full swing here in the White Mountains and there have already been sightings of Santa, Christmas trees on top of car, and holiday music is starting to be played on the radio. It is the most wonderful time of the year to plan a visit with family, or a romantic holiday getaway with your significant other. Journey to the North Pole-North Conway and Lincoln- Weekends through December 23 (Afternoon and Evening Performances)
The Believe in Books Literary Foundation once again brings this magical train ride to the White Mountains. Families will “Journey to the North Pole”. Hot cocoa will be served by Santa’s magical elves along with some of Santa’s favorite treats. Once the train arrives at the North Pole, guests will get to listen to a dramatic reading of “Twas The night Before Christmas” before returning back to the station.
Christmastime at Santa’s Village-Jefferson- Saturdays and Sundays through December 22
Santa is opening his village to boys, girls, and their families for the Christmas season! One of your favorite summer attractions has been transformed and decorated for the season, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to offer up some wassail and possibly a photo or two. The shops will be open for holiday gifts and the theater will be open with two shows daily. Be sure to stay until after dark to take in the beautiful, and warm light displays that fill the park.
A Christmas Carol: The Musical Ghost Story at Jean’s Playhouse-Lincoln-Dec. 15 & 16
A Christmas Carol: The Musical Ghost Story is a “ghostly” musical adaptation by Joel Mercier of the famous Charles Dickens classic featuring all your favorite characters, original music, spooky ghosts, and some unexpected twists and turns! Bright costumes, lively music, incredible choreography, and special effects bring new life to this adaptation.
Inn to Inn Cookie and Candy Tour-Mt. Washington Valley-Dec. 8 & 9
Visit 11 inns in the Mount Washington Valley and taste delicious cookies and candy while admiring the beautiful holiday décor. Take home a collection of scrumptious recipes in a keepsake cookbook, and get in some holiday shopping as inns will feature artisans and vendors. Demonstrations, artisan sales and gift ideas will be featured at each inn. If you stay at one of the inns on the tour, you will receive a custom-made keepsake ornament. Tickets must be booked in advance and two-night Cookie Tour packages are available.
Harvest Your Own Tree at the Rocks Estate-Bethlehem- Through December 24
Enter what some people call “A Modern-Day Normal Rockwell Christmas Scene” and start a new tradition with your family. Take a horse drawn wagon ride out to a stunning field of trees. You can choose to tag it, or cut it down yourself. When you’ve finished finding the perfect tree, roast some marshmallows over the fire pit, and browse the unique gift shop where you will find amazing rustic, country, and local gifts for yourself and your loved ones.
Holiday Movies and Events at the Flying Monkey-Plymouth-Multiple Dates
The Flying Monkey will help get you in the holiday spirit with classic holiday movies and festive concerts. Kick off the season with the Holiday Silent Film Celebration on December 1. Movie showings include Tess of the Storm Country, A Christmas Carol, and ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Celebrate Christmas with the Celts on December 8! Enjoy lively renditions of your favorite holiday songs with a Celtic flair. On December 15, bring the family to Home for the Holiday. This Broadway style extravaganza features a full set, costumes, dancing, and medleys of nearly 50 holiday songs. Homestead Christmas at Remick Country Doctor Farm and Museum-Tamworth-December 1
Welcome in the holidays by stepping back in time! Celebrate this magical season at this historic homestead. Enjoy a tour of the festively decorated Captain Enoch Remick House, sample roasted chestnuts and gingerbread, fresh-baked cookies and wassail. The event will also feature wagon rides, costumed interpreters, season-based exhibits, a colorful handcraft, fuzzy farm animals, and cooking demonstrations at our open hearth and wood stove. Hometown Holiday Celebration-Plymouth-December 1
Celebrate the holidays during this all-day event. There will be a Festival of Trees, a 5K Run/Walk, wreath-making, cookie-walk, kid’s holiday party, holiday carol sing-along, holiday parade, and a bonfire with BBQ.
The best way for Santa to clear his head before his Christmas Eve journey is to hit the slopes in the White Mountains! On December 15, he will be at Wildcat from 9:30am-11am and then he’ll make turns at Attitash from 12pm-2pm. There will be another chance to spot Santa at Loon Mountain on December 22 and 23 from 10:00am-3:00pm. Great photo opps!
Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting at Settler’s Green-North Conway-December 1
Enjoy a day of family fun and activities for the holidays. Horse-drawn sleigh rides, snow tubing, caroling, and a chance to win a $500 shopping spree. Santa will be at the tree lighting ceremony with hot cocoa and for photos.
Stop by the Littleton Coop for a day of holiday festivities and delicious treats! From 12-3, sample products from some of their favorite vendors. Santa will also be making an appearance, so make sure you bring your camera to get that perfect shot for your holiday cards.
Winter Festival-North Woodstock-December 12
The Town of Woodstock invites you to celebrate winter! Enjoy tasty treats and receive local discounts as you stroll along Main Street. Get your picture taken with Santa, enjoy a horse drawn sleigh ride, cookie decorating, and caroling.
Santa Visits Little Village Toy & Book Shop-Littleton-December 15
Santa returns at 11:00 am to visit with children and read The Polar Express. Get your picture taken with Santa and get some Christmas shopping done while you’re there.
Enjoy a nighttime, winter stroll through the woods on the Shannon Pond Trail at Castle in the Clouds. This self-guided hike can be done at your leisure and the trail will be marked with lighted mason jars, headlamps or flashlights are recommended to help you find your way. After the hike warm up by the fire pit and enjoy hot cocoa, and goodies. A telescope will be set up to get an up close and personal look at the moon and stars, and feel free to bring your own!
Sleigh Rides and Santa at Maple Haven Campground & Cottages-North Woodstock-Sat. 12/2-12/22
Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride, then listen to Santa read a story by the fireplace with gifts for the kids! Sleigh rides run every half-hour and are $20 for adults and $15 for children. Ho Ho Ho!
