Labor Day Fun in the White Mountains

Before the kids go back to school, and thoughts turn to fall, squeeze out some more fun this summer over the Labor Day weekend. It’s safe to say, that the whole family will love spending time outdoors in the White Mountains with fairs, celebrations, and rubber duck races!

The Lancaster Fair - August 30-September 3 - Lancaster

An annual Labor Day tradition for 146 years, the Lancaster Fair kicks off fair season in a big way! Have fun at the midway, eating fair food from a variety of vendors, watch competitions such as horse pulling, animal judging, and the demolition derby, and listen to live music.

Railfans’ Weekend –September 1 & 2-Conway Scenic Railroad

Rail fans will unite during this special weekend. There will be demos, freight cars, cabooses, and other special train cars during this event. An additional Notch Train to Whitefield has been added in to the schedule.

Labor Day Family Party - September 2- M/S Mount Washington

This fun cruise departs from Weirs Beach and there will be live entertainment by Mark Shelton, and Rockin’ Randy Hawkes. Dance and sing the evening away all while enjoying the beautiful scenery and mountain views from Lake Winnipesaukee.

Believe in Books Literacy Foundation Fun Run - Sept 9 - Story Land

This exciting race for kids is not only a great fundraiser, but a fun way to spend the day! Kids will race around Story Land and will get to meet their favorite Story Land characters and some special guests as well. There will be live music and free book giveaways. Participants will receive a free t-shirt, race medal, and a ticket to Storyland to use that day.

Nature by Rail and Storybook Sunday - Sept 1 & 2-Hobo Railroad

Join the Hobo Railroad for the final Nature by Rail and Storybook Sunday for the season. On Saturday, a naturalist from the Squam Lakes Science Center will offer a live animal presentation at the Choo Choo Theater. On Sunday, Eeyore, (of Winnie the Pooh fame) will be visiting while a storybook is read.

Yoga in the Woods -Sept 3-Lost River Gorge & Boulder Caves

Become one with nature at Lost River Gorge with Motivation Monday-Yoga in the Woods. Join instructor Margarita Defresne of Live a Little Fitness in a 1-hour Gentle-Flow Yoga session at Lost River Gorge’s Forest Treehouse and take in the peaceful sounds of Lost River and the nature around you. Mats will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own. The cost for the session includes a $5 coupon to experience Lost River Gorge again on your own. Pre-registration is required.

Bretton Woods Labor Day Celebrations -August 31-September 3-Bretton Woods

This 4-day Labor Day celebration offers many family-friendly activities to get you outside, and having fun! Activities include: yoga sessions, flag football, stargazing, indoor and outdoor movies, rubber duck race, a band concert, 5k race, and of course, the Labor Day Family Block Party. End of Summer Bash - September 3-Waterville Valley

This annual end-of-summer tradition is a full day of activities for the whole family including; face painting, live music, a rubber duck race, and ending with a bang with fireworks over Corcoran Pond.

Labor Day Comedy Show -September 2-Jean’s Playhouse

Tickle your funny bone at Jean’s Playhouse during a night of comedy featuring: Greg Boggis; a New Hampshire favorite, Boston comic Paul Nardizzi, who has been seen on Conan O’Brien and Comedy Central, and Marty Caproni, who has opened for comedic acts such as Tracy Morgan, Dave Attell, and many more.

(Almost) World Famous Rubber Ducky Regatta -September 3-Cascade Park in North Woodstock

Join in on the fun, when nearly 2,000 rubber ducks are released into the Pemi River! Adopt a duck, and you have the chance to win awesome prizes.

Fireworks - August 31-Indian Head Resort

Need we say more? Fireworks over Shadow Lake at Indian Head resort at dusk. (Approx. 9:15pm).

Art on the Street and Jack Richardson Art Sale -Aug 31-Sept 3-Richardson Gallery in North Woodstock

Visit Richardson Gallery on Main Street in North Woodstock and immerse yourself in the art of local painter Jack Richardson as well as exhibits by local artists. Originals and prints will be on sale so you can take home your very own piece of art. While there, local artists will be painting and creating art outside.
