Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial kick off to summer here in the White Mountains. We have some great activities and events that will be taking place throughout the White Mountains, so come and enjoy the long weekend with us!
Explore the caves at Lost River Gorge, lighted only by headlamp. Tours run on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. On Saturday, watch a Live Animal Presentation by a Naturalist from the Squam Lakes Science Center
Whale’s Tale’s newest feature is the wildly popular AKUA surf simulator. Jump on a boogie board or surf board and ride the wave!
Veterans (active duty, retired and prior service) will receive complimentary rides all weekend. Enjoy a relaxing 1.5 hour ride along the Pemigewasset River.
Come watch as participants climb the Auto Road in zany costumes, experimenting with unique ways to make it to the summit.
Activities and Events
On May 26, kids can bring their poles and tackle boxes to Corcoran Pond and fish for prizes. There will be face painting, balloon twisting and Curious George and Bruce the Moose will make an appearance. In the afternoon, head to the gazebo to listen to music by the Jonny Friday Duo. Stick around for the 29th annual Chowderfest and Brews on May 27. There will be chowder and beer samplings, as well as live music.
Buy a duck, watch it float down the river, and maybe win a prize! There will be food vendors, kid’s games, face painting, a parade, and live music. Fun for the whole family.
Kids under 13 cruise free all weekend. Veterans, active military, and their families can cruise for only $10. The special Salute to Service Dinner Cruise is on Saturday, May 26 which includes a buffet dinner, dancing, and live music.
On Saturday, May 26, get your laugh on as three great comedians take the stage. Mike Donovan, Carolyn Plummer, and Greg Boggis will tickle your funny bone during this fun evening event. On Sunday, May 27, kick back to the bluesy sound of James Montgomery with the Blues Project featuring Jon Butcher.
Believe in Books Literary Foundation’s Theater in the Woods will be jamming out to the ever-popular Adam Ezra Group on Friday, May 25.
Spend a day at Bretton Woods enjoying the great outdoors. Try archery, slopeside climbing wall, Disc Golf, Foot Golf, Pickleball, and Cross County Biking. The canopy tour is open daily as well.
The trails will be open for biking, running, and walking, and they will be offering ½ day Afternoon Wildlife Kayak Tours on Saturday and Sunday.
Explore over 50 black and white photos from the Associated Press Archive in this beautiful exhibit honoring those that fought in World War II.
On Saturday, May 26, test your balance on a paddleboard during a beautiful, morning yoga class on Mirror Lake. Class begins at 8:30, and is weather permitting. Call ahead to reserve your spot. 603-398-5549
Enjoy fireworks at dusk over beautiful Shadow Lake on Friday May 25. Bring a blanket and watch from the grounds, or grab a cocktail and watch from the deck
Rent a paddleboat and enjoy a leisurely paddle in the beautiful, Echo Lake with views through Franconia Notch, or take a fun bike ride along the Franconia Notch Bike Path.
