NORTH CONWAY, NH -- Adventure Suites, North Conway’s popular themed hotel, plans to build on their reputation for extraordinary lodging accommodations by adding a spectacular mountain-view spa, restaurant and two bars. Voted the #1 hotel in Mount Washington Valley by Conway Daily Sun readers and one of the top 10 themed hotels in the world, Adventure Suites will now offer hotel guests, weddings, groups and the public a unique setting to kick back and relax.
Adventure Suites’ owners, Kathy Brassill-Doucet and Alan Doucet, brought their sense of fun, adventure and design aesthetic to this most recent addition to the hotel, celebrating its 45th year of operations in 2019. At a projected budget of over $500,000, the addition of these amenities now offer their guests everything they need for a fun and relaxing vacation on-property.
Like the rest of the property, the restaurant and bars will offer festive theming unlike most traditional hotels and venues. The Gringo Bar features warm mexican colors and decor, and seating for groups of up to 50 people. The White Horse Saloon has a hand-hewn wooden bar with views to the Moat Mountains, outdoor seating, and a high-quality comfort-food menu. The spa features unexpected design touches. The four oversized foot-soaking chairs are positioned in front of a wall of windows and rest on a mosaic flooring featuring a martini glass. And yes, guests can soak and enjoy an adult beverage from the bar.
Hotel guests have always enjoyed breakfast included in their lodging rates, and with the addition of the White Horse Saloon Restaurant, they can now eat there or request room service. Considering some of these luxury themed suites accommodate 16 people or more, it’s easy to see how parties and groups of all sizes can have more fun than ever.
Kathy explains their vision: “We felt it was the next step for Adventure Suites to bring it to a new level. The families and couples staying with us have expressed an interest in being able to have options like a bar and restaurant on-site. We plan to expand our wedding packages and functions too.”
She previewed the western themed restaurant, which also offers outdoor seating. Like everything else at Adventure Suites, it is one-of-a-kind. “We are using a lot of repurposed barn board and western style for the room. The Gringo Bar itself came from Brazil, made out of recycled mill materials. I purchased it in Jerome, Arizona. We travel around the world sourcing our props. Sometimes we hold on to props for years until we find its forever home.” Unlike chain restaurants and hotel franchises, guests will never see anything like Adventure Suites anywhere else in the world.
This unique approach will appeal to brides and grooms seeking something completely different for their wedding party. Why plan that special day in an ordinary function room when events of all kinds can be held in Adventure Suites’ themed rooms, with the added amenities of a bar, spa and restaurant.
These upgrades open up the option of weddings on a larger scale than ever before possible. While they have always offered “mini-weddings” in their suites and outside on their mountain-view grounds, the new restaurant, bars and function space is a game changer. Additionally, those seeking an outdoor wedding can utilize an oversized 20x40 foot tent, to be set up on the back lawn .. all with those famous White Mountain views.
Brassill continued, “We’ll have special menus for weddings and groups or planning a party with us. We have the Haunted Castle, a function room, the back yard with mountain views - it will make for a unique wedding. We have packages that include everything -- photographer, flowers, and more.” The Haunted Castle suite was added in 2018 and has already hosted special events - the ultimate themed wedding.
Another must have for the ultimate wedding? The new spa at Adventure Suites has luxurious accommodations for the wedding party, and for all guests. But like everything else at Adventure Suites, it’s not your average massage spot. Brassil’s love of pampered travel led to the addition of the spa.
“When I stay at hotels, I like to use a spa. It makes a big difference for me, I thought it would make sense for our guests. We’ve always offered in-room massages, but now we have this professional sound-proofed relaxing atmosphere in our two massage rooms. The inlaid martini glass in the floor is a little subliminal message under the foot soak chairs!”
These new amenities are just a continuation of what Adventure Suites has always done - provide an over-the-top experience for guests in a place that exists nowhere else. The Adventure Suite’s team works hard to create this environment. She explained, “We have a full time construction crew working year-round improving this facility and have for many years. It’s a one of a kind property. There’s nothing like it anywhere in the world. Every room is different. We go to conventions across the country to become proficient in the themes we are building, and that includes the restaurant and spa which will have special lighting and sound effects. You’ll have to see it to believe it.”
Adventure Suites plans to open its new restaurant, bars and spa in August 2019. Those wishing to plan for a wedding or special event are encouraged to call (name, phone #) to reserve their dates for 2020, which are expected to fill up quickly.
