Cannon Mountain Continues 80th Anniversary Celebration with Free Event

Franconia, NH. (December 21, 2018) - Cannon Mountain will salute its 80 legendary years with the Cannon80 Celebration, held on Dec. 29, 2018. The event marks the opening of the ski area that followed the original Aerial Tramway's launch on June 28, 1938. The tram was the first of its kind in North America.

This winter anniversary event will kick off with a noontime proclamation. Guests will then enjoy quality après ski entertainment at the Cannonball Pub from 4:30-6:30pm, culminating in a fireworks display at 6:30pm.

Guests who purchase a full-day, full-priced lift ticket will receive a voucher valid any day in January 2019 that will allow them to purchase two lift tickets for $80. The first 1,000 skiers and riders to go to guest services will receive a commemorative 80th anniversary coin.

Additionally, the first 80 people who spend $80 and more in the Cannon Sports Shop will receive a free gift from Cannon Sports. Huckerbrook Handle Tow and Cannon's Mini Terrain Park will open under the lights from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The handle tow ticket will cost $5, or free with a season pass or day ticket.

In the last decade, Cannon has become one of the state's premier ski areas with 97 trails and glades, a recently upgraded snowmaking system, expanded base area facilities and the new Mittersill racing and training venue. Cannon not only boasts the highest ski area summit in New Hampshire at 4,080 feet and the steepest vertical drop at 2,180 feet, it is also home to the first ski racing trail and first paid ski patrol in North America.

Cannon hosted an anniversary event earlier this year in June that commemorated the iconic tramway with live music and free tram rides for New Hampshire residents.
