Gilford, NH (January 15, 2020) – Following a national three month search to replace retiring General Manager Greg Goddard, the Commission announced today they have selected a local well known and highly experienced tourism professional Tom Day. Day will begin his duties in an expanded role as President and General Manager January 15, 2020
The Gunstock Area Commission that oversees Gunstock is pleased to announce Day’s appointment and new role. “Tom brings a wealth of knowledge in ski area operations, and has a keen sense of the tourism landscape here in New Hampshire. We look forward to him taking the reins at Gunstock and helping realize the full potential of the County owned four season resort asset.”
Day started his career in New Hampshire’s ski industry in 1978 as a lift attendant at Waterville Valley Resort. He worked his way up to Director of Mountain Operations, and in 1997 was named Vice President and General Manager of the mountain resort. Day held that position at Waterville Valley until his departure in 2010 when he became trustee and chairman of the board of Dome Industries, a manufacturing business in Warwick, R.I. In 2014 Day became the General Manager of the Hooksett Welcome Centers which is a partnership between the state and longtime NH businessmen Alex Ray and Rusty McLear.
Day grew up in Falmouth, Maine and Londonderry, New Hampshire and attended Manchester Memorial High School and Plymouth State College. He has served on the Board of Directors of Ski NH and the Greater Waterville Chamber of Commerce. He was named among Business New Hampshire Magazine’s “25 Leaders of the Future” in 2000 and was honored as Ski NH’s Lobbyist of the Year in 2005 and is a 2015 a recipient of the Ski NH Bill Whitney Award for outstanding service to the NH ski industry.
