The fireworks will come from comedy on July 3 in Lincoln when NH’s own Juston McKinney takes center stage at the North Country Center for the Arts at Jean’s Playhouse.
McKinney’s career skyrocketed when he began making the rounds of NYC comedy clubs and the New York Times called him “destined for stardom.” Appearances followed on numerous Comedy Central shows including his half-hour Comedy Central Presents special and his own one-hour special. He has appeared several times on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien as well as a Showtime Comedy Special with Rob Gronkowski. Along the way, he signed sitcom development deals with major outlets and made his TV & movie credits include The King of Queens,100 Centre Street, The Zoo Keeper and Here Comes the Boom. He recently wrote and starred in the short film, Suck It Up, which screened at the NH Film Festival. He was awarded “Best Acting Performance.”
The Portsmouth, NH native spent early years on the Seacoast, then found himself in Maine when the family moved up the coast to Kittery, ME. After high school and college there, he turned to law enforcement, serving as a York County Deputy Sheriff, patrolling the woods – eventually feeling the pull to stand-up comedy rather than enforcing folks to stand down.
McKinney performs around the country, touring clubs and theatres throughout the year, returning time and again to New England – and, especially New Hampshire, where he makes his home with wife and kids.
His humor is punctuated by all his experiences: dad, husband, and, of course, the way of life in our own backyards, mountains, neighborhoods, and home.
The 7:30 pm Juston McKinney Comedy Show is Saturday, July 3, at NCCA/Jean’s Playhouse in Lincoln. With one performance only, and socially-distant seating, advance tickets are recommended – and available 24/7 online at www.jeansplayhouse.com
