CONWAY, NH (December 13, 2017)—Skiers and snowboarders won’t have to dream of a white Christmas this year. Snowstorms overnight brought up to 8 inches of new snow by Sunday, December 10 for some of Ski New Hampshire’s member ski areas, followed by another weather event on Tuesday, December 12 which totaled up to a foot in some parts of the state. With cold temperatures and more snow in the forecast for next week, New Hampshire’s ski areas are expecting excellent conditions for the holiday vacation week.
Alpine ski areas reported the following totals from Tuesday’s storm:
Many of the Nordic ski areas in the state received enough snow to open for the season as well:
Even those that aren’t reporting their snowfall from the most recent snow are reaping the benefits. Granite Gorge opens tomorrow, McIntyre Ski Area opens on Friday, December 15, and Whaleback Mountain and Dartmouth Skiway will open on Saturday, December 16. Black Mountain also plans to reopen on Saturday. Abenaki Ski Area will open on December 26.
New Hampshire's ski areas will have much more than skiing on the schedule for Christmas through the New Year. Guests can enjoy a variety of other outdoor activities, such as snowshoeing, tubing, and fat biking, plus specially-planned activities to celebrate the holidays.
