Snowflakes might still be falling here in the White Mountains, but we’re already starting to think SPRING. Our ski resorts are also getting in the spirit with pond skims, throwback days, ski races, and more peppered across their spring ski calendars.

Don’t put away those skis and snowboards just yet! Spring is one of the best times to ski (and party!) in the White Mountains, and it’s coming soon.

 

CANNON MOUNTAIN (Franconia, NH)

BodeFest

  • Date: Saturday, 3/18
  • Time: 9am to 4pm
  • Cost: $59 entry fee

Do you love kids, a good cause, and Cannon Mountain? BodeFest is the can’t-miss event of the spring season! This signature Cannon affair is made possible thanks to The Turtle Ridge Foundation and famed Olympian Bode Miller, who will be onsite throughout the day’s festive proceedings.

Kids 18 years and under are invited to enter the Kids’ Ski w/Bode Run and the Kids’ Fun Race, while all can enjoy an autograph session with Bode Miller and an epic BBQ lunch on-mountain, as well as goodie bags, commemorative event items, and more.

100% of event registration fees benefit the Foundation’s efforts to support innovative and progressive adaptive and youth athletic opportunities in local communities.

80’s Day & The Old School Duel

Kick it like it’s 1980-something at Cannon Mountain! You’re invited to don your best throwback threads and enter the Best Dressed Contest, join the Deck Dance Party with DJ Stevie B, and even register for the iconic Old School Duel! If you’d rather just watch as an 80’s-tastic spectactor, that’s cool too – keep an eye out for daffys, helis, spread eagles, and more outrageous old-school ski jump moves.  Then party it up at Cannon’s Apres Party complete with an 80’s covered band.

Blizzard Splash Pond

  • Date: Saturday, 4/1
  • Time: 8am to 11:30am (Registration), 12:30pm to 2pm (Event)
  • Cost: Cannon Mountain lift ticket or season pass

Splash into spring at Cannon Mountain, and see if you can skim across the Blizzard Splash Pond! Ages 12 and up are welcome to participate but there are only 50 spots for the day, so be sure to hit up Guest Services on the earlier side of the 8am – 11:30am registration window. Skiiers who make it all the way across have the chance to win big with prizes from Blizzard Skis and Chutters Candy Shop, but all spectators can bask in the fun of this fun ski event in the White Mountains.

 

 

CRANMORE MOUNTAIN RESORT (North Conway, NH)

Ski for Sunshine

  • Date: Saturday, 3/4
  • Time: 4pm to 8pm
  • Cost: $45 registration fee

Ski your way to charitable giving with a beautiful evening on the slopes of Cranmore Mountain Resort. All registration fees for this philanthropic event benefit Camp Sunshine, a retreat that combines respite, recreation, and support for children with life-threatening illnesses (as well as their families).  Register as an individual or as a team, and work to raise money before the big day.

On March 4th, individuals are challenged to complete 15 runs in 4 hours, while teams of four must complete 60 runs in the same allotted time. There will be prizes for the top fundraisers, plus cookies, hot chocolate, a goodie bag, and the feeling of doing good for all.

25th Annual Hannes Schneider Meister Cup

  • Date: 3/11
  • Time: 9am to 4pm
  • Cost: $500 (5-Person Team); $100 (Individuals); $40 (Racer Guests)

Teleski, snowboard, or make turns on your regular old alpine skis – if you can handle intermediate terrain and would like to try out ski racing, sign up for the Hannes Schneider Meister Cup! There are ten age classes and a bevy of awards to be won, including the iconic Meister Cup Trophy (which is waiting to be engraved and displayed in the New England Ski Museum once a winning team of 5 racers is announced).

Keep an eye out for competitors from the 10th Mountain Division and the Army Mountain Warfare School; these soldiers will be skiing as part of a special military class that pays homage to the man himself, WWI-era Austrian mountain soldier Hannes Schneider.

Cranmore Park Series

Hey hey, 80’s Day! Spread the love for your local White Mountains ski events, and add this rockin’ event to your calendar. Expect awesome springtime ski conditions, live music from 80’s tribute band Rubix Cube, totally rad outfits all around, and more during this beloved tradition at Loon Mountain Resort.

GREAT GLEN TRAILS OUTDOOR CENTER (Gorham, NH)

Tuckerman Inferno

  • Date: Saturday, 3/18
  • Time: 8am to 2pm
  • Cost: $200 (solo racer); $500 (team captain); Free (team members and volunteers)

Rally your rugged pals or run the Tuckerman Inferno solo; either way, all will be pushed to their impressive limits during this challenging fundraising pentathlon. Participants can expect to fat bike, cross country ski, snowshoe, run, and mountaineer ski more than 20 miles during this all-out exhilarating day. Yes, there will be sweeping views of Mount Washington, Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center, and surrounding peaks. There will also be the knowledge that all your efforts are well worth it, as entry fees go towards the Friends of Tuckerman Ravine nonprofit.
